What people say about working with me

Website copywriting

“I asked Rachel to help develop tone of voice and website copy for a client of mine for one simple reason: I needed an expert copywriter who could get under the skin of the stories the brand could tell, then weave them together to create a consistent tone. Rachel excelled at this, taking the time to interview key stakeholders and probing to build depth to their stories, before developing their tone of voice and copy to bring the brand to life. I can’t recommend her more highly!”

“I’ve been working with Rachel on website copy for a while now and she’s great to work with, she listens, she’s patient and takes the time to understand your business and requirements. I love how she can take the mess from my head and make sense of it! I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Rachel, she’s massively helped me improve my website and has supported me with other client work as well.”

“Having recently started a new business, we needed someone to help us tell our story and do so in a much more effective way than we could! Rachel was absolutely brilliant and came highly recommended to us. Rachel took the time to really get to know us, what’s important to us and what type of client we are trying to attract for our new business. Rachel helped us write the content for our website, from scratch and the result is a unique website that accurately reflects who we are and adds real value to the service we offer to our clients. We are already discussing our next project with her. Thanks so much Rachel!”

Rachel was great. She really wanted to understand what I was wanting and to produce something that would work for me. She listened to my comments on the first draft and quickly adapted anything I needed. Once the website was up and running she had a last look over that the words flowed with the edited format. Thanks Rachel!”

“I chose to work with Rachel on the copy for my website specifically because she has a unique way of approaching copywriting for businesses like mine. I loved the way the process was kicked off with an interview-style meeting where Rachel really delved into what’s interesting about how I work with my clients and who they are. She helped steer me away from talking about what I do, and more onto how I help solve my clients’ problems. Based on this interview, Rachel provided me with an About page format I could never have imagined on my own. Following on from this, Rachel was on hand to help me create the content for my new home and services pages. We had a couple of rounds of revisions to really refine the messaging. I’m so pleased with the end result and feel it helps communicate how I work with my clients much more clearly. “

“Rachel has a talent for finding the story that’s hidden within the many and frequent jumble of words I create. Not only does Rachel find the story, she tells it in the voice I wish I had. Rachel paints pictures and creates relatable stories that show people how what I do is relevant to them.
I have always struggled to find the right words to talk about my business and I’ve always felt like the copy on my website is a work in progress. I don’t feel like that now and that’s because Rachel finds the right words and the right voice for me. “

Content coaching

“I came to Rachel to help me with my strategy and accountability around content creation such as blog writing and social media. She has been fantastic at supporting me with strategy planning, strategic thinking, templates as well as getting over the fear of self-promotion.

As a result, I wrote regular articles, social media posts, and generally stepped up promotion ahead of my book launch.
I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to build their motivation for writing content and as well as getting organised to set things up smoothly. She’s efficient, kind and a joy to work with!”
Ruth Farenga
“I have had the pleasure to work with Rachel on my content strategy and I have found our working partnership effective and inspiring. Rachel helped me to prioritise my topics in line with my my offering and audiences. Her friendly and flexible style helped me generate additional content and come up with a strong plan for the next 6 months. Rachel’s perspective and expertise helped me adapt my content to a wider range of media and including blogs/posts. I would recommend Rachel to anyone who needs to develop their content, voice and visibility.

“I’ve been working with Rachel as part of her Your Blog Counts course and it’s completely changed how I view writing for my business. I’ve never been a natural writer, ideas for blog posts, etc. don’t come easily to me. She has a wonderful way of being able to tease ideas out of you and help you to structure your thoughts so that before you know it a blog post or an article has suddenly taken shape without you really noticing what was happening. I find seeing stories in my day to day much easier now too, as well as discovering that I actually do enjoy writing, all I was missing was structure. Anyone writing for their business needs to work with Rachel in some way.”
Emma James
“I had an amazing day working with Rachel on one of her “Write Now” days. I had wanted to get some ideas/outlines drafted for a couple of my services and would have been pleased to have achieved that. The day totally exceeded my expectations. Rachel expertly advised and helped me pull together a strategy that uses/links and coordinates all my existing content in a structured manner.
We created a structured approach and list of new content which I can’t wait to get started on. Rachel helped me work out how to tell my story in a much better way than I had been. I will definitely be working with her again and would highly recommend her.

“I just spent an amazing day with Rachel Extance doing her “Write Now” day intensive. The morning we focused on the strategy, brainstorming possible content, how my unique viewpoint can be shown.
Then after a lunch break, Rachel sketched out the outline of several new blogs, which I then sat down and wrote 2 new highly focused posts as I answered the prompts she set for me and we looked at ways to improve existing blogs.
This made the process so much easier and showed the power of batching content in full flow.
I highly recommend scheduling a day like this for your business with Rachel.”

Workshops

“As a small business owner, I knew blogging was something I could really benefit from, but I just wasn’t doing it. I had the FEAR! The challenge was fab. Short down to earth helpful videos with actionable homework tasks that take you on a journey to creating your blog. There were really helpful hints on all the major topics – headlines, how to make it appealing, how to get started and importantly how to utilise it. Rachel’s knowledge and skills shine through and her delivery feels friendly and encouraging. I completed my blog and am feeling much more positive about writing more and all the positive ways this will help my business. I even did a VLOG which I had also been avoiding like the plague.
Julie Tod
“I attended Rachel’s workshops How to create content when you’re short of time, and How to blog consistently. Both were well structured, with actionable techniques and methods. Rachel has a calm and friendly manner, and keeps everyone engaged. She even did a live demo of an Instagram Live during the content workshop, backing up her advice with evidence as we watched! In addition there were templates to use to help plan, and organise our learnings. I came away with a clear action plan, feeling much more positive about how to go about creating content and blogging. Well worth booking!”
Anne-Marie Miller
“It is the most relevant, practical and immediately applicable workshop I have attended on this. I found myself applying the things I learned without realising. My number of connections on Linkedin and those following me have not only bumped up but the level of engagement is greater than has ever been.”
Paul Chiy
“Rachel delivered a clear and well paced workshop with compelling reasons to learn more about content marketing. It was backed with evidence and lots of advice on creation and engagement. It’s improved how I approach content for Hello Lovely because I understand the possibilities. I also appreciated the well-presented workbook as a useful reminder. This learning is reflected in an increase in traffic to my website and more engagement on social media. Thank you Rachel!”
Berenice Howard-Smith
“Rachel’s video tutorials, or transcripts if you prefer, were really encouraging and broke everything down into bite-sized tasks. I loved having an email each day as a friendly reminder. The course was really well planned out with three topics to choose from and each contained great information. At the end of the challenge, I published my post and have another draft and a lot of new ideas ready to develop!
Joanne Taylor
“Rachel provides a really practical approach to social media to help you upgrade or start writing your blog. What I especially like is having a list of ideas of what you could write about for the next 13 weeks. This really takes the pressure off your brain from having to think up a plan! Instead, I found I could simply get on with writing from the different angles proposed. At the end, I feel I’ve (almost unknowingly) developed a brand story. Social media made simple and smart. Thanks Rachel!”
Kelly Drewery
“I managed to create a blog from scratch that I’ve been meaning to write for a long time. The whole challenge was really well laid-out, with lots of small steps so it felt manageable. And I knew that Rachel was on hand for advice. She’s been so supportive of my new blogging efforts and very generous in sharing her tips with me. If you’re a new or rusty blogger, I can highly recommend working with Rachel.”

Screenshot of LinkedIn recommendation by Clare Josa. Text reads: I needed a new name for one of my training programmes and had been going round in circles, with each of my ideas becoming less appealing, the more I navel-gazed and over-thought it.
I was super-clear about the benefits of the course and who it was for, but the name I had chosen wasn't getting people taking action.
I had a call with Rachel to bounce some ideas, based on her copywriting skills. She listened. She understood intuitively what I was looking for, and she didn't take it personally when the first few ideas didn't work, which gave us both permission to think more creatively.
Then suddenly she suggested the idea to which my intuition yelled, YES! It totally summed up the ethos of the course and its purpose, without feeling clunky.
And I'm now in the process of renaming the programme and trade-marking that name.
Rachel created a 'safe space' for me to admit that what we had been marketing wasn't working - without judgement - and for creative ideas to flow to find a solution.
Screenshot of an Instagram post by Rachel Miller at All Things IC. Text reads: Last year I stumbled across a post by the lovely @rachelextance, who I’ve known for years via @youpreneur. She was encouraging business owners to share client stories and feedback on their websites.
All Things IC turns nine-years-old this month. I’ve never put a case studies or testimonials page on my website. Largely because most of our work is under NDA (non-disclosure agreements). I’m also dreadful at sharing positive feedback as I believe the focus should be on you, not the business.
However, after some encouragement from #TeamTeal, I asked Rachel to interview some of the wonderful IC pros I’ve had the pleasure of advising. Their feedback and stories have blown me away. Thank you for being so open and revealing your experiences. The new page is now on the website www.allthingsic.com, where you can read their stories in full. Thank you @alivewithideas for all the work you’re doing to update the site.
Screenshot of a LinkedIn recommendation from Sarah Clay. Text reads: Rachel has been writing the monthly blog for LinkingOut Club and she's been doing the most incredible job! It's not an easy one to write but Rachel embraces it and always delivers an informative and interesting blog.
Not only that, Rachel is great to work with. Nothing is too much trouble and she turns work around really fast.
Thank you Rachel for all your help. I highly recommend Rachel as a blog writer.
Screenshot of LinkedIn recommendation from Jo Twiselton. Text reads: Rachel did an outstanding job of interviewing my client and producing a great case study. She made the entire process really straightforward and delivered something that clearly explained what was involved and how it benefited my client. I would have no hesitation in recommending Rachel for any work that involves developing a story, writing with clarity or interviewing skills.
